Back-up-la-va

Hey,
so if I could do a mulligan on the bacon baklava...I would take them seriously when they say, innocently "Use a 9X13 METAL pan"...as it is, my bacon got cooked twice, which was once too many, and meanwhile, I'm trying to pick around the sickly sticky charred innards to eat the still delectable--teasingly so--butter and phyllo.

Thats all folks.

Oh butterrr

So my new toaster oven---after I busted the other one---there it was, sitting there, perfectly clean, and my resolution to keep it that way was still strong in my heart, when one recipe of
granola bars called for melted butter and next thing you know i was throwing melted plastic in for extra flavor.

my husband is going to kill me when he sees the inside of the toaster oven.

Toaster oven dinner

So I know what some of you are thinking right now:
"Shit, I spent so much time looking at food blogs and now i don't have any time to make dinner.
Also the fridge is empty because I was looking at blogs instead of shopping for groceries yesterday."

Well, fear not. This recipe is for you.

Take 1 english muffin
1 tomato
some goat cheese
meat of some kind if thats what you are into.

throw these things in the toaster oven in some meaningful (to you) order.

If it happens to fall on its face on the way out, no worries.
You needed that as a reminder to clean your toaster oven glass.

And devour.

oh and my camera is still broken---sob---so sorry about the picture dearth and poor quality...
I was supposed to get it fixed yesterday but instead i drooled over food blogs.

Coffee beans and diapers

You love the background of my blog don't you.
Well let me tell you a story.
The two things my life is full of now from day to day are:

Coffee
and diapers.
Those look like beans but what are they really??...

Primus

Today I meant to make many things.
I started out looking through my kitchen. With a little one napping I obviously couldn't go to the store.
I found an apple, limes, pepper and salt, flour, craisins, almonds and some old cheese.
While pouring the pepper into it's grinder, I managed to spill it all over the counter. Score. Artsy Picture # 1.

I'm going to make something spectacular with these things, and as my inagural recipe for the blog, I'll call it Primus.

Take the apple, sprinkle lime juice on it. Put it into a bowl and set aside next to the salt and pepper for a nice photo.

Put the flour away in a container (we have no use for it right now), be sure to get several blurry shots of it as you toss it into the pantry.

Take the old cheese, devour immediately while thinking about why the kitchen is so dirty and there are flies everywhere.

Take the almonds and craisins, and pour into separate artsy bowls. Be sure to find the right setting for these bowls, and then snap away.

Eat all the various elements of Primus together while pouring over and uploading the pictures.

At some point I'll go after all the scattered peppercorns all over my counter and floor...
